Introduction

California is the largest U.S state by population. Los Angeles is ranked #11 in the Top 22 Most Populous Agglomerations in the WORLD. In 2005 the Los Angeles population was 12, 298,00. Los Angeles is divided into many regions, categorized by culture and economy. We are familiar with the wealthy neighborhood seen on TV such as Malibu, and are less familiar with heavily Mexican American neighborhoods such as East Los Angeles. Growing up in a lower class community and now residing a block away from the beach in Manhattan Beach allows me to appreciate the diversity of Los Angeles.

One thing I miss about my neighborhood growing up is the famous taco trucks stationed at corners throughout the week. However, living by a beach strengthened my LOVE for Los Angeles. It’s amazing how I can take a jog year round and enjoy the Pacific Ocean breeze. The Los Angeles basin is full of diversity and culture.
